New Or Used Gas Powered Golf Cars?

by Andrew Stevenson

If you are thinking about buying a golf cart then why not start your search by looking at the large number of used gasoline golf carts available today. Not only can you save a lot of money by purchasing a pre-owned cart but you can often pick up a bargain in the form of a cart that has has been extensively and expensively customized by the original owner.

Electric golf carts are severely limited in terms of the time for which they can operate and the distance they can travel because, even with modern battery technology, electric cart batteries can only hold a very limited charge. By contrast, gas powered carts can run for hours and cover considerable distances on a single tank of petrol, take only minutes to refuel and even allow you to carry spare fuel with you. The fact that gas carts have a considerably greater range also means that it is possible to tap into their power reserve to run such things as heaters and air conditioners.

Another benefit of a gas powered engine is that it is considerably more powerful than an electric motor and so your cart will be able to operate in far more demanding situations. For example, you will be able to carry quite heavy loads, tackling steep inclines and cope with rough ground, providing of course your cart's suspension is also up top the job.

One worry that many potential owners have about gas carts is the cost of fuel, especially in times when fuel prices generally are high. This surprisingly can often be yet another benefit of owning a gas cart as many modern carts enjoy excellent fuel consumption with figure of 30 miles or more per gallon being common these days. It is also often forgotten that, while charging your electric cart is simple, the effect on your electricity bill can be dramatic.

For many people a very big minus for the gas powered cart is the fact that it is dirty, smelly and adds to an already far too polluted world. Of course generating the electricity to charge up the battery on an electric cart is not the cleanest of processes, but even modern high performance four stroke engines are not exactly environmentally friendly.

Your search for used golf carts needs to start in your own local area and there is probably no better place to begin looking than in the local classified ads. Also, check out local country clubs, golf clubs and businesses which are likely to use golf carts in the course of their normal day to day operations. You may or may not find what you are looking for here but, a pound to a penny, you will run into some people who will be able to point your search in the right direction.

Of course a great place to look these days is on the Internet and here you can choose between looking for private sales through online auction sites and sales through a wide variety of different business websites. Of course you have to take care when buying anything online but, as long as you are careful and know what you are doing, you should come out just fine.

Whether you are a private individual or a small or large business buying used gasoline golf carts these days can be an excellent choice. Just make sure that you do your homework and you should come home with a great cart to pop into the garage.
