Having A Better Look At The Schumacher SE-4020 10/40/200-AMP Wheel-Style Battery Charger And Starter

by Jack Black

At present, with cash being so restricted for everyone, many people have taken to doing their auto repairs themselves. If you are one of those individuals, you will discover some things you really need. One of the things that every single home mechanic should have is a battery charger and a car starter. Because of this, we have decided to take a close look at the Schumacher SE-4020 10/40/200-AMP Wheel-Style Charger And Starter.

One thing I have consistently hated about repairing my own cars is the fact that between starting them over and over and leaving the doors open so the dome light stays on, I might have to charge the battery in an effort to get the car to start up again. More than likely you have been working on a car and once you go to start it you find out that the battery is dead. Then you need to affix a charger to your car and wait five to ten hours before you may have any hope of the car starting again. So I was quite glad to discover that they now have personal versions of charger and starter units that you would find in car shops. The good thing about these new units is that they are not going to cost you $500 to $1000 but they work equally efficiently as the professional versions.

The Schumacher SE-4020 10/40/200-AMP Wheel-Style Charger And Starter is really an example of these reasonably priced units. The SE-4020 can be such a powerful device that quite a few professional mechanics are using it. I have a cousin who owns a garage and as his previous $1000 unit died, he went out and bought two Schumacher units for just under $300.

If you use the 10 amp setting featured on the charger, you can charge your vehicle battery within three to five hours. What's even more cool is that if you set the unit to 40 amps, you can fully charge a battery anywhere between forty minutes to two and a half hours. And the greatest feature, in my opinion, would be the 200 amp setting which can give up to 350 amps of pure power to jump start your car. Keep in mind you can use this battery charger on any kind of vehicle including motorcycles and lawn tractors due to the fact that the unit can be switched between 6 and 12 volt vehicles.

Another nice function would be the built in timer so you can charge something for a specific period of time without having to remember to turn it off. You won't have to worry about overcharging your battery. The Schumacher system comes in handy all through the winter considering that cars usually have a hard time starting up, so you can use this unit to get a quick boost.
