Do You Know How Clean Your Driving Licence Is

by Maria Jacobson

When you pass your driving test and get your driving licence you will no doubt be feeling very proud and happy and there are few things in life which will give you the same feeling. The issue for most people however, is that their driving licence won't stay clean for long.

This can cause lots of problems when it comes to getting insurance, renting a vehicle or even getting a job.

Some job application forms will ask you to list any endorsements on your driver's licence and this can be a question that will throw you. If you had penalty points on your licence previously but are unsure if they have expired or not and you don't mention them then you could be in trouble if you were mistaken as it will look as though you deliberately lied on your application form.

The safe thing to do is to check out your license in advance and that way you could end up saving yourself a great deal of embarrassment. If you fail to disclose endorsements and then get found out, you could be dismissed and this is not something that you will want. It's not just penalty points that can cause problems if not checked.

There are so many people driving around with a licence that is not valid. A lot of people do not realise that they should have notified the DVLA of changes in address or changes in circumstances. Those who are nearing the age of seventy will get a letter explaining how they need to apply for an extension on their licence; however, this is something that you will have to take care of if you do not get the letter.

Of course it's not every day that you turn seventy but knowing what your license says about you is something you should be aware of. More and more companies are now checking licenses thoroughly so it's wise to stay one step ahead of the game.
