Advantages And Disadvantages Of Having A Car
Traveling forms part of our lives these days and everybody likes traveling. People like going to different places and visiting foreign countries. We travel when we go somewhere on business or for our pleasure or when we go to work. There are a lot of means of transport that we can use, such as the plane (by air), the car, the bus or the van (by road), the train (by rail) or the ship (by water).
Even if all these means of transportation are used by people, the most used remains the car. Everybody has a car and drives one, it does not matter if it is theirs or if it is hired. There are even families which have two cars. And everything has both good parts and bad parts and cars, of course, are no exception to this law.
When it comes to their advantages, cars have many, from mobility and flexibility to independence and convenience. Being able to go fast from one place to another provides great flexibility and mobility.
Independence is another important benefit that a car has to offer. Having your own car means that you don't have to depend on anybody or anything anymore. You can travel where and when you wish because you make your own timetable. Cars are also very convenient and are thought of as on demand transportation. They are always there for you. You simply get behind the wheel and drive anywhere you desire. Still, when it comes to speed, it is recommended not to break the law.
Nonetheless, there are also people who think that cars have more disadvantages than advantages. In their opinion, cars are very insecure and perilous because people die in car crashes much more often than in any other means of transport. Furthermore, buying and maintaining a car is very expensive nowadays.
So, with the price of fuel rising constantly these days, it is more and more expensive to drive a car. What is more, cars are considered a big contributor to air pollution because of gas emissions in the air, so environmentalists are against cars, unless they are ecological.
And the list of disadvantages goes on as there are also the car registration, inspection (which has to be done every year), taxes, repairs, insurance, depreciation (a car loses its value because of age and mileage), the difficulty to park in overcrowded cities, parking fees, car washes, accessories, etc.
